The first with copper and other metal fittings, the shagreen clad case has an interior structure of bamboo or wood, measuring . 6-3/4" x 2-5/8". The second is carved wood or bamboo with images of fish, water, lotus and phoenix carved on the outside, colored in a rich red-brown, measuring . 6-1/4" x 2-1/2", with remnants of cording and a Chinese coin inside.
Condition: Wear from age and use. The green cording of the shagreen case is only in remnants attached to the interior. There may have been a red paper lining at one time, now fragments remain. The carved case also with handling wear, cording remnants inside.
