Lot 123. Set of two prints by French printmaker Jacques Callot. Callot's early prints carry the designation "In" the abbreviation for "invenit" that indicates that the artist was the inventor of the composition. One print features a scene from the Stations of the Cross, with a latin inscription at the bottom, the other features a Haarlem landscape. Both have been trimmed, and one has been mounted on cardboard backing. Prints measures apprx 4-1/2" x 8-1/2" and 5-3/4" x 8-3/4".

These images depict various characters from everyday life, including a ragged old man with a cane, an old woman with a rosary, a beggar, a man with a wooden leg, a mother with three children and an old woman with cats. Prints are numbered in lower right corner, 1, 2, 4, 6-10, 12-20 and 23-25. All signed "Callot" in lower left corner. Images measure apprx 4" x 6". Mounted to paper. Overall size is apprx 8" x 10".

Also included in this lot of engravings are an image of Mestolino, dancing goblins, Cap. Csgangarato and a study of a roman soldier. Images range in size from apprx 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" to 2-1/2" x 3".
