Jules Desire Lubin (French 1854- )Winter 2007 Auction Lot 16. "The Trespasser". An interesting narrative in an interior at an impasse in an incident. Two officials appear to be about to arrest the man at the left surrounded by other figures. The dog at the lower center provides an additional dramatic feature as it snarls at the officials. The faces and postures of the men are particularly well painted. The frame has an old nameplate at the center stating the artist, title and that the painting was "Exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, Paris". 5000.00/7000.00 Sold $2,012.50 |
