This is a lithograph from the collection "Seven Colours" with images by Michael Rothenstein and poems by Edward Lucie-Smith, and printed by Rampant Lions Press. As indicated on the back of the publication the lithographs were printed under his supervision by Shelly Rose at the Argus Studio, Stisted, Essex. The paper was made by Barcham Green of Maldstone. This is a lithograph from the collection "Seven Colours" with images by Michael Rothenstein and poems by Edward Lucie-Smith, and printed by Rampant Lions Press. The poem accompanying the lithograph reads: "Three a.m. - there is dog that barks./Four - a note from a muted trumpet./ Secret warnings of an arrival./ The city ignores them, even now,/ at the time when blood runs coldest,/ the street lights burn and neon rainbows/ chase their own tails. In quiet squares,/ insomniac windows are shining./ Only the mind insists on blackness./ Only the imagination/ contains this fall of ash. Go out. Greet the newcomers. They are clothed in rags./ Their faces are haggard. Their footsteps/ crunch in the cinders, otherwise/ they are silent. Horror holds them. They/ dare not speak about oncoming day."
