John Pearson (British 1940- )November 2005 Auction Lot 179. "Mondrian Series". Suite of four silkscreens, each numbered and signed. Printed by the artist in seven colors on Rives BFK paper during summer of 1974 at Oberlin College of the 62 portfolios and 4 artist proofs in the ed. 52 were for the CWRUPC (The University Print Club) and fourteen were retained by the artist. This selection of four silkscreens in hand signed and by the artist and numbered 35/62. All measure approx. 21" square. John Pearson was born in 1940 in Yorkshire, England. He attended Akademie Der Bildenden Kunst, in Munich, Germany, and the Royal Academy Schools in London. He has taught at the University of New Mexico, the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, and the Cleveland Institute of Art, before reaching his current position as the Chair of the Department of Art at Oberlin College. His work is featured in the collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the Tel Aviv Museum of Fine Arts, and the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, in Hangzhou, China, among others. He has been commissioned for work by numerous Cleveland organizations, including Case Western Reserve University's Peter B.
