Lot 28. "The Model", oil on canvas, framed, canvas size apprx 21" x 16-3/4", artist insignia lower left. Tag on verso "F.R." R.A.B.I.S.S. exhibited 1851-93, registration #18182. Lush green foliage behind an attractive young woman with a hint of romanticism. Lidderdale was a member of Society of British Artists, exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institute and the Society of British Artists at Suffolk Street. He was about thirty-eight years old when this was finished and had painted the same girl for years. There are paintings known to be of her when she was about 10 years old.
