Lot 67. Simple and moody exterior scene with fence in close foreground, oil on canvas, signed lower left in red, apprx image size 15-1/2" x 13", apprx size with frame 24" x 21". Nice Whistler style frame in gold. Born in Sandusky, Ohio in 1855, Darling choose art at an early age and went on to study in Cincinnati, Munich, (where he may have spent as much as twelve years) and in Paris with Jean-Paul Laurens. By 1896 he had settled in Laren. He returned to Ohio late in his career.
