Lot 24. Rider and dogs on a hunt, signed lower right and dated 1883, Paris. Oil on apprx 7/16" thick poplar wood panel, apprx 9" x 13" with beveled edges on the reverse. The reverse has been stained. The panel is flat and in excellent condition. The ground construction is a thin cream colored (estimated) oil ground, applied to the panel. The ground appears to have been applied with a dapping technique, creating a stippled effect. The paint has been applied in a traditional manner with little or no impasto. Overall with cast plaster metal leafed frame with umber tone finish apprx 16" x 20".
