Lot 43. "Mother and Children". Oil on canvas, signed lower right corner, framed, canvas size 12" x 10", with frame 19" x 17", framed in a heavily carved and antiqued Barbizon pattern frame. #8940 written on verso, and an illegible stamp below. A Dutch domestic scene which has maintained popularity for many years of a young mother holding a baby, attended by two small girls. It is a universal subject that many artists have specialized in, this being one of the more accomplished artists of the genre.
