Lot 67. "Village with Mountains." Oil on canvas, signed and dated "Winchell '38 on the lower right corner, in a carved wood frame in soft champagne color, image size approx. 15-5/8" x 19-1/2", framed overall approx. 23" x 27". An art instructor at the Minneapolis School of Art, Paul Winchell lived in Minneapolis, having studied at the Art Insititute of Chicago. His teachers included Leon Kroll, Daniel Garber, and Charles Woodbury. Provenance: From the collection of Tom Wilson, Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Wilson's collection spans several decades and includes wonderful Art Deco, sculpture, paintings and drawings from around the the world. Mr. Wilson is a well know cartoonist and creator of the character Ziggy.
