September 2005 Fine Art and Antiques Auction Lot 90. Floral Scene. Oil on paper over board, signed "Robert Laessig" on the lower left corner. Image depicts a mountain landscape in the background, and detailed dandelions on the forefront. Image size approx. 9-1/4" x 8-1/2", framed overall approx. 15" x 14-1/8". Robert Laessig was born In West New York, New Jersey in 1913. He attended the Textile Design School of Plauen, Germany for five years and specialized in the study and painting of flowers. Laessig then studied at Art StudentsÂ’ League, New York City under Bernard Klonis. An opportunity to become an art consultant brought Laessig to Cleveland where he is now residing. He has exhibited at many Cleveland Museum of Art May Shows since 1950. He has won prizes at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio and also the annual exhibition held at the Akron Art Institute. He was presented a distinctive award for the best watercolor in a show and an abstract painting was purchased for the Cleveland Museum of Art at the time of the 1959 May Show. 100.00/200.00 Sold $787.75 | |
