Lot 67. "The Shepherdess". Oil on canvas, signed lower right and inscribed on verso with title, artist and dated 1915. Lathrope was a California painter whose art is sought after today by collectors and dealers alike. The central figure is surrounded by her flock with a row of trees in the distance as well as a farmer and plow horse. Wonderful rounded shading on sheep and trees, with almost illustration precision. Canvas size apprx 20-1/4" x 30-1/4", overall with period frame apprx 28" x 38".

Lot 47. Solitary Path. Oil on canvas, framed, signed lower right. Landscape depicts a rocky forest scene with a great mountain peak rising above, possibly Mt. Hood. A single figure walks down a rustic path and a sailboat can be seen in the mountain lake. Painting style although slightly naive is very detailed. California painter, Lathrop, is best known for her western scenes. Measures apprx 20"Hx 30" W. With wooden frame, entire item measures apprx 25"H x 35-1/2"W.
