Lot 29. Historical Painting. Oil on canvas, painted after an engraving. Verso describes subject of painting as "Drake playing bowls on the sea front before going to set sail to fight the arriving Spanish Armada". Costumes are highly detailed and subject matter is amusing. Signed on lower left hand corner. Verso has artist information and states the painting was shown in an exhibit for the Maryland Historical Society, in 1856. Measures apprx 13"H x 17"W. With gold colored liner and carved wood frame, entire item measures apprx 17-1/2"H x 21"W.
