Adam Lehr (American 1853- 1924)

Adam Lehr was born and spent most of his life in Cleveland. He appears to have begun his career as a house and sign painter, graduating to being a decorator for a local wagon manufacturer. As his substantial skills grew he studied painting with De Scott Evans and then Archibald Willard. He attended the Art Students League in New York where he studied with William Merritt Chase. He spent the rest of his career between Cleveland and New York, focusing on still life compositions of all sorts as well as landscapes.
