Lot 172. A portrait of a cavalier. Watercolor on paper, signed in the lower left corner and inscribed "Roma 1881", framed in a foil-gilt wide frame under glass 21" x 14-1/2" image size, with framing overall 28" x 21-1/2". The young man is jauntily posed on a stone step in front of a door with his sword used as a staff in his right hand. There is a n indication of a stand of trees and sky in the distance to the right.
