September 2006 Fine Arts and Antiques Auction Lot 270. "La Danseuse au Tambourin," posthumous edition. Bas relief bronze sculpture of a limited edition of 220 for the public; 99 where made for museums. This is numbered 149/220. In 1918 three terra-cotta reliefs were made by Renoir and his assistant Louis Morel. Of the three, one was never cast in bronze until March of 1984. Four silicon rubber molds were made of the terra-cotta by Bruce Hoheb, formerly of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He certified that no previous mold had been made and the molds were used to make lost wax bronze castings at an officially authorized foundry. Each casting in the edition with Renoir's signature in the bronze, from the mold, lower right. Approx. 29-3/4"T x 17-1/2", framed approx. 36-3/4" x 25".
