Anatoly Vladimirovich Treskin (Russian 1905- 1986)

People’s Artist of the RSFSR, State Prize Laureate, and winner of the Academy of Arts Gold Medal. He graduated from the Art and Industry College at the Higher Art and Technical Studios (VHUTEMAS), where he was a student of V.N. Kuchumov, V.A. Kuznetsov, and D.I. Kiplik. Before the War, he participated in the restoration of painting decoration in the Shuvalov, Yusupov, Stroganov palaces. He painted murals in workers’ clubs, culture palaces, and sanatoriums. After the War, he participated in the restoration of mural painting in the Mariinsky and Maly Opera theaters, halls of the Hermitage and the Russian Museum, park pavilions and palace halls of Oranienbaum, Tsarskoe Selo, cathedrals of Novgorod, Pskov, and Suzdal. In 1950-1970, he headed the restoration works on the murals of the palace in Pavlovsk. Treskin’s works are in St. Petersburg museums and private collections.
