Lot 96. Interior scene with two women reading a letter. Oil on canvas, signed in the lower left, framed in a rustic-finished frame, 25" x 20" canvas size, with frame overall 33-1/2" x 28-1/2". A beautifully painted domestic interior with two women seated at a table reading a letter. There are interresting details of the interior surrounding; religious objects on the wall above the curtained window indicating it is night time; a very decorative wall clock behind, flowers on the table along with the envelope and a ladies' shawl. To the left is a wooden cupboard on which hangs a picture of a military man and a pipe. Presumably the narrative records the soldier's family reading a letter with news while he is away on duty.
