Lot 53. Portrait of a little girl. Oil on canvas, inscribed with the artists name and dated March 1850 on verso, not framed. Measures approx. 22" x 25". In the customary manner for a primitive-style painting, the little girl is shown with her hair parted in the middle (boys were also depicted in dresses, but with hair parted on the side) She clutches the feminine symbols of flowers before her.
