Lot 63. Landscape with a farmhouse. Oil on canvas, signed lower left. In a white stained wood frame. Canvas measures approx. 24"H x 36"W; framed overall approx. 30-1/2"H x 32-1/2"W. Label from the W. J. Burger Co gallery adhered to the back of the frame, as well as a short biography of the painter: "Joseph Krotter Born July 16, 1894 in Vienna, Krotter was the son of a famous Austrian figure and portrait painter. He received his education at the Vienna Art Academy and as a pupil of his father. His works portrays the scenes so typical of lowlands of Germany England and the Netherlands, as well as the Danube Valley of Austria. Knotter paintings depict peace in a hurried, War-weary...., and his works are very popular in Europe, as well as the United States."
