"Old Woman". Oil on canvas, framed, image size apprx 8-3/4" x 10-1/2", 22 cm x 26.5 cm, unsigned. Tag on verso, "Russian Collection, Old Woman by Pelevin year of 1898 #105". Pelevin studied at the Academy in St. Petersburg in 1856-64 and was exhibited in the Tretjakoff Gallery in Moskow and at the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.

John Crome was an English Romantic painter and a leader of the Norwich School (1805-1833). This painting was purchased from Anderson Art Galleries in 1924 and has remained in the same family for two generations.
