A collaborative piece by the two artisians, apprx 4" x 4-1/2" x 5". Signed on verso, clear glass abstract form with ribbons of yellow and orange throughout. Please see deatils page for artists' inforamation. Willson was one of the most complex and contradictory American artists of the past century. He was at once regional and international, steeped in Pre-Columbian art as well as Texas folklore. Educated in the Southwest and 1930's Mexico, he discovered the glass studios of Murano, Italy, and became one of the first American sculptors to use solid glass in a small factory setting. His work can be found at The Corning Museum of Glass and New Orleans Museum of Art. There is an exhibition scheduled at the Corning Museum of Glass; "A Texan in Venice: The Art of Robert Willson, 15 May 2003 - 26 Oct 2003". Hamon Glass was established in 1929 by O.B. Hamon, Robert Hamon´s father. During the early years, the family focused on creating functional glassware and is well known for their "crackle-ware" glass. In the early 1960's, Robert L. Hamon, brought the family into the art glass world. The Hamon studio still exists today, located in the Historic District of downtown Hannibal Missouri. 500/1,000 back to catalog |
