The artwork described was purchased from Barrett Auction Company, Lexington, Kentucky, who was commissioned to sell Ms. Shirley A. Mason?s estate. Ms. Mason has been identified as "Sybil Isabel Dorsett," the subject of the famous 1973 book by Flora Rheta Schreiber entitled Sybil. She began undergoing therapy with psychiatrist Dr. Cornelia B. Wilbur in 1954 and was diagnosed as having 16 multiple personalities by Dr. Wilbur in 1965.
