6. A Group of Framed Napoleonic Miniature Portraits

With Napoleon as the centerpiece in the cluster of oval miniature portraits, each framed in tooled metal with a convex glass, all enclosed in a larger gilt metal frame with a damask textile backing, overall approx. 8-1/2" x 6-1/4". The ivory color material that surrounds the ovals has an inset of an eagle at the top holding ribbons that connect to a laurel wreath around the central portrait. The portrait of Napoleon has an illegible signature and the portrait to the left has the initials "NR", the others unsigned. The subjects appear to be; upper left: Maria Paulina, sister, who married first General Charles Victor Emmanuel Leclerc then Prince Camillo Borghese, upper right: Empress Josephine, right: Lucien, exiled in 1810 for opposing Napoleon's policies, lower right: Carolina, married to Joachim Murat and Queen of Naples, lower left: Maria Anna Elisa, grand duchess of Tuscany in 1809, left: Louis, king of Holland until 1810. All but Josephine were siblings of Napoleon, one of eleven children.
