A fine English paper mache table snuff box, painted with a portrait of George IV by Samuel Raven, c. 1822. Portrait is oil on paper mache. Samuel Raven was an English Portrait Artist patronized by H. R. H. The Duke of Sussex and Prince Leopold. The artist's work can be found in London's National Portrait Gallery. Box measures 5" diameter, 1-1/2" tall.

"The Model", oil on canvas, framed, canvas size apprx 21" x 16-3/4", artist insignia lower left. Tag on verso "F.R." R.A.B.I.S.S. exhibited 1851-93, registration #18182. Lush green foliage behind an attractive young woman with a hint of romanticism. Lidderdale was a member of Society of British Artists, exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institute and the Society of British Artists at Suffolk Street. He was about thirty-eight years old when this was finished and had painted the same girl for years. There are paintings known to be of her when she was about 10 years old.

"Lady Reading A Book". Oil on wood panel, signed lower right. Panel measures apprx 12-1/2" x 15-1/2", overall with frame apprx 23"x 26". Framers tag on verso. Mme Enault studied with A. Tissier and F. Willems. In 1876 she debuted at the Paris Salon with "L'invocation de la mariee". She was a member of the Society of French Artists where she received an honorable mention in 1887 and a bronze award in 1889. She is listed in many referrences such as "Women Painters of the World" by Walter Shaw Sparrow, NY 1976, Gazette de Beaux-Arts 1879 , Davenports, Auvrey's Dictionnaire General des Artists de L'Ecole Francaise 1882 and Benezit

"Capioller Mountains", c. 1870. Oil on paper, on canvas, signed. Measures apprx 15-1/2" x 19-1/2". Askevold is considered one of the great Norwegian artists of the 19th century. His career was established where he first worked in Bergen (Norway), where studied with H.L. Reusch and later after 1855 in Dusseldorf, Germany, where he was a student of Hans Gude at the Academy. Askevold moved permanently to Dusseldorf, Germany to spend the remainder of his life.
