Plowing bulls or oxen, cast in parts and mounted to a green mottled marble base. Signed in cast "Maignan", also "made in france" in block letters. Patina has a warm brown/honey to green tone. Overall apprx 22"L x 11"W x 13-1/2"H.

"On Safari", a hunter on an Elephants back aiming his gun for a kill. Soft to muted mat, black patina overall. The Elephant has foot and trunk raised, safari guest in typical garb for the period. Probably executed posthumously. Signed in base "Raffaello Romanelli", overall apprx 25"L x 11"W x 18"H.

A wonderful bronze with a green/brown patina of possibly Diana, godess of the hunt. Running with her is a dog shown in fine movement. Bronze is attatched to marble base and is inscribed "A. Clemencin". Apprx 15-1/2"T not including 3" marble base x 17-1/2"L x 4"W. Apprx 18 lbs.

227. Emmanuel Villanis (France, 1858-1914)


Bronze bust entitled "Elaine" made by French sculptor Emmanuel Villanis. Villanis was born in Lille in 1858 and studied in Italy. He exhibited in the Salons of Paris from 1886-1914. This particular statue measures apprx 18" tall and 12" wide. This is a bust of a female with an Art Nouveau style headband. Her eyes are downcast. Bronze base is inscribed with her name. Signed E. Villanis on verso of right shoulder.

228. Charles Keck (American, 1875-1951)


This bronze plaque is a memorial of the sinking of the battleship U.S.S. Maine. The U.S.S. The Maine was sent to Havana in January 1898. On Feb. 15, 1898 she sank when her forward gunpowder magazines exploded. Three-quarters of the crew died in the explosion. Measures apprx 13" x 17-1/2".

229. A Pair of Bronze Plaques


Two bronze plaques cast by the Metallic Casting Co. located at 246 Congress St. in Boston. The Metallic Casting Company specialized in doorknobs, but cast other items such as these plaques. Oval shaped plaques feature reclining nudes and small children playing in an Arcadian setting. Measure apprx 8-1/4" x 11" and weigh 121.2 oz. Plaques are dated from the late 19th-early 20th Century.

This bronze sculpture of two dolphins in motion is free-form and without base. Dark brown/black patina, it is unmarked or unsigned but is reminiscent of a Wyland piece. It stands apprx 17"H x 18"L x 12"W. Weighs apprx 19 lbs.
