Agate Fluted Point

Bifacial flaking on both side of this massive chalcedony, possibly greasy agate or chert blade. From the earliest horizon of flint working in America. These points are often found in association with Mamouth and Bisson fossil remnants. Has great translucent qualities and sharp edges, apprx size 2-5/6" x 1" x 3/8".

2. Old Babylonian Clay Foundation Cone


Isin Dynasty, circa 1953 B.C., a dedication on a clay cone from the reign of King Ishme-Dagan of Isin. Clay cones, or nails, were inscribed with dedicatory inscriptions, in many duplicates and embedded into the cavities of walls of great buildings in case the building was demolished so that future generations would know to whom to re-dedicate the building. This cone is handwritten with the text around the shaft of the cone in two columns of equal length, leaving the remainder of the cone blank. The text records the building of the wall of Isin by Ishme-Dagan, after exempting the citizens from taxes and freeing them from the corvee labor.

A very nice, larger panel depicting a kneeling winged figure with four standing gods. Gessoed panel with pigment of red, blue and black. Has hanging gear attached at verso. Pierced holes visible at back, probably a sarcophagus panel. Apprx size 31-1/2" x 15-1/2".

Battle broken daggers, five daggars and one spear, recovered from the Andabil region of Iran, 2000-1500 B.C. These ex-museum artifacts are from a Midwest collection in the United States. Daggers show different styles and each has wonderful encrustasions and patina. Apprx size 12" to 5".

Two Luristan items, c.700-800 B.C. Persia, including a bronze wedding or ankle ring and a partial example of a bronze earring. Also included is an arm band, probably used for protection, found in the Ardabil region of Iran, circa 2000-1500 B.C. Ex-museum artifacts are from a Midwest collection in the United States.

This lot includes three items recovered from the Uzum Dil region, north of Tabriz, Persia and include a bronze top of a vase or bottle apprx size 3", a bronze bowl apprx size 4-1/2" and a bronze bottle apprx size 3". Also in this lot is a bronze base for an idol, found in Luristan, apprx size 7-3/4" and one unknown bell, apprx size 1-1/2". Ex-museum artifacts from a Midwest collection.

Earthenware bowl on a small pedestal and a slight lip at rim. Interior of pedestal has inscised alphabetical writing, "LAPOSEVOYVNOANE". Overall apprx size 2-3/4"H x 6-5/8"D.
