43. Hans Andersen Hansen (Danish, 1874-1948)

Point of view landscape overlooking a "Garden of Eden" like scene with architecture in the foreground and in the distance, oil on canvas, signed lower left, not framed, on four-key stretcher, apprx canvas size 26" x 36", marks on perimeter from former framing. Hansen was educated at Teknisk Skole and was also a student at art schools in Berlin and Zurich for one and three years respectively. He was educated as a decorative painter and during a half-year's stay in Budapest in the late 1890's he worked on the Parliament building and on the Imperial Castle. In 1911 Hansen had a painting accepted at the Spring exhibition at Charlottenborg. After a short time at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen he exhibited mainly flower paintings and landscapes. He also exhibited at "Kunstnerforeningen af 18" (the Artist Society of November 18) for several years and at Kunstsalen (the Art Hall).
