Watercolor and ink on paper. Signed lower right corner and dated "April '34" in lower right corner. Measures approx 13- 3/4" x 18- 1/2" This sketch is titled "The Vision of the Holy Ghost" and depicts a scene in which the Princess is in her bed with her arms outstretched. The Holy Ghost shows her a glimpse of heaven where Jesus is surrounded by families, children, artists and heros. A nude couple stands off to the right while a blonde woman sits at a table on the left. Many comments have been made in the margins on how the sketch needs to be changed to better depict the story. The sketch is in fair condition with a small tear on the left side writing throughout the margins. The story of "The Invisible Company-Friends and Lovers" is signed in the lower right corner and dated "April '34" It measures approx 13- 3/4" x 18- 1/2" This sketch, made with watercolor and ink depicts the Princess in her bed surrounded by friends and lovers. The figures to her right are clad in greek robes. One of the figures at the foot of the bed is nude, the other is wearing a contemporary blue dress. At the head of the bed is a nun, and three figures wearing robes. Jesus comforts Princess Florinda by placing his hand on her head. In the bottom margin the text states that this is a study for a mural. The sketch is in very good condition wtih only slight discolorations in the margins. This watercolor and ink image measures approx 13- 3/4" x 18- 1/2" and is signed in the lower right corner. One note on changes to the composition is located in the upper right corner. This sketch depicts the Princess sleeping in her bed and dreaming of god looking down upon her. She looks up towards heaven and sees a woman's face in the sky. She is surrounded by figures including the nun, the nude man and two nude children. This is another sketch for a mural or book illustration. 150/225 Sold $23.00 back to catalog |
