Marked "#302 Conimbrica Portugal S XVII MM" on verso, this two part Lavabo is mounted to wood mount and has hand painting overall. Images include a castle on the lid, dogs, deer, rabbits and birds. Stylized borders and bands separate these fantastic landscapes including these creatures. The spout is in the form of a man's mustached head. This item was customarily attached to a single cupboard door and was common in the 18th Century. The basin is a semi-circle with protruding rim. Apprx 21" long overall and 14" wide at basin.
