| 308. Philadelphia Style Highboy, (American, mid-20th Century)
This Philadelphia Style highboy has a carved scrolled bonnet top. Between the scrolls is a lavishly carved design. The quarter columns at the front corners are ornamented with fine carving. Carved designs in the acanthus motif appear on the cabriole legs, and carved shell-like forms ornament the shaped skirting. The elaborate embellishments produce an effect of great decorative richness, characteristic of the cabinetmakers of Philadelphia. Apprx 6'-9"T x 39"W x 21"D. 2,000/2,500 Sold $1,265.00 back to catalog |
