| 34. After Joseph Antonio Hekking (American, 1830-1903)
"A River Landscape", oil on canvas, signed lower right, canvas apprx 12" x 20", framed overall apprx 17-1/2" x 25-1/4". Canvas has staples and is a newer cotton canvas with stain on verso, over an older stretcher. Hekking is known for his landscapes, incorporating the Andirondak and White Mountains. Many of his paintings depict river views and the autumn colors that glorify the valleys near the Hudson River. He has an extensive exhibition history including the National Academy of Design, the 1865 Michigan State Fair, the Crystal Palace in New York in the year 1853, the Cosmopolitan Art Association show of 1858, Utica Art Association show in 1868, Buffalo Fine Arts Academy in 1869, Boston 1869, the Buffalo YMCA in 1861 and the Chicago Industrial Exposition in 1876. 200/400 Sold $322.00 back to catalog |
