| 33. Attributed to William Noble Hardwick (British 1805-1865)
A view of Lyon, "The Bridge", oil on canvas, signed lower left, titled and dated 1855 on verso tag. Depicts a city scene with a bridge and boats beneath. Painting measures apprx 18" x 29". A similar painting exists, however in watercolor and produced a year earlier. This shows the Palais du Justice on the banks of the river Saone with the towers of the Cathedral of St. John in the distance. Signature can not be found. The artist was a pupil of Turner who lived in Bath from 1838 and travelled extensively on the Continent. 400/600 Sold $920.00 back to catalog |
