This is probably a metal plate print, most likely a signed printer's proof for a book. "N.Y.C. U.S.A." Wood cut or linocut on paper, unframed, image size apprx 6 1/2" x 5", paper size apprx 11" x 8". Signed and dated lower left, 1926. An early African-American printmaker, Washington worked in printing houses in New York in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The linocut, or Wehine, was created by Washington in 1927. 50/100 Sold $247.25 back to catalog |
