| 498. Haviland Hand Painted Shell Plates, circa Early 20th Century
Set of 8 Haviland luncheon plates. "Haviland, France" green stamp on verso. This mark was used from 1893 to 1930 and 1941 to 1962. Apprx 8-1/4" in diameter. Each plate is delicately hand painted with a seashell and creature motif including seaweed and water reflections. Raised hightlights in white. The scalloped edges have a gilt stenciling in a foliate design. Founded in 1855 in Limoges, France, the Haviland porcelain company reached its artistic peak in the 1870's and the 1880's. 150/300 Sold $201.25 back to catalog |
