This is a leaf from the popular french newspaper "Le Charivari". It illustrates some popular women's fashions from the period. On the front of the leaf two women are shown wearing the latest Parisian fashions. On verso of the image is a column that describes exactly what the women are wearing and where it can be puchased. The image is in excellent condition, although the mat is falling apart. Image measures apprx 14-1/4" x 9-3/4". There is a slight crease through the center of the image, this is due to the original folding of the newspaper. This satire based newspaper was created in 1832 by the French journalist Charles Philipon.
