154. Captain Edward Jones (19th Century)

Ink and wash on paper by Edward Jones, titled "Palestrina 28 March, 1829" in bottom left corner. Image measures apprx 6" x 10". Photocopy of verso is included with image. Palestrina is one of the oldest towns of Latium and more important than Rome. For many centuries the town was at the very top of the hill and was strongly fortified, nevertheless it could not resist the expansion of Rome and had been destroyed several times throughout the decades.
