| 170. Lake Price (English, c. 1850)
"The Picador Dismounted". Colored lithograph, matted, measures apprx 13-1/4" x 20-1/4". This colored lithograph from England dates apprx 1850. In the image a picador has fallen from his horse. Several other matadors try to help the fallen picador by distracting the bull by waving their capes. One matador attempts to stab the bull while another pulls the picador to safety. This event takes place in a Spanish bullfighting arena. Bullfighting was extremely popular in Spain in the mid 1800's. This image is a lovely example of the drama and danger that was an integral part of bullfighting. 150/300 Sold $63.25 back to catalog |
