153. 19th Societe des Aqua Fortistes Etching

The first plate in the collection which shows the Society of Etchers. 19th century etching of a Parisian streetcorner. Image measures apprx 9-3/4" x 14-1/4". This etching shows upperclass Parisians peering in the windows of a gallery filled with paintings. A sign on the left identifies this as the Rue Richlieu and the exhibition is the Direction Generale de la Societe des Aqua Fortistes. The Societe des Aqua Fortistes was founded by the French publisher A. Cadart. Image has signature "A. Martial", the etcher, in the lower right corner.
