592. Manuscript Cantata "La Rosa."

[Albrici, Vincenzo]. "La Rosa." n.p., n.d. 17th century manuscript score, Cantata. Oblong octavo (10" x 12 1/2"). Modern quarter calf with marbled boards, 6 leaves (11 pp). Hand illumination of "Hunt Scene" approx (4 1/2" x 5"). RARE. An original manuscript score of Vincenzo Albrici (1631-90?). Although Albrici had achieved international fame during his life, his music has been all but forgotten. Only a few of his compositions have ever been recorded, yet he is acknowledged as a highly respected composer and virtuoso performer. Peranda declared that, "he had not found a greater viruoso than Vincezino." Vogt proclaimed Albrici. "Alpha among the musicians of the previous century." Experts believe that less than one third of his compositions have survived, making his work excessively rare.
