173. Clyde J. Singer (American, 1908-1999)
Graphite on beige paper. This particular drawing depicts two women standing on a busy street corner. Signed "C. Singer" in lower right and dated '39. Image measures apprx 7-3/4" x 6-1/2", framed apprx 16" x 15". Singer was born and raised in Ohio and later attended the Art Students League in New York. He did most of his sketching after serving in the Army in the Phillipines, New Guinea and Japan during World War II. He is quoted as once saying "painting to me is the most fun there is". His works grace many museums, most notedly The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, where he retained an office and a great presence in his later years.

174. Irene Kissel (Cleveland School, b. 1910)
Drypoint etching by Irene Kissel is entitled "Industry" and dated 1936. This is plate 44, edition 250 from the Cleveland Print-a-Month club. Signed in pencil in lower right corner. This image depicts a conceptual view of the Cuyahoga River and the bridges in the "Flats": once the industrial hub of the steel industry in Cleveland. Image measures apprx 9-1/2" x 8-3/4". Paper size measures apprx 13" x 12-3/4." Irene Kissel was born in Cleveland in 1910 and attended the Cleveland Institute of Art. She exhibited her prints and paintings in numerous Cleveland Museum of Art May Shows.

175. Bernard Villemot (French, 1911-1989)
Vintage original lithographic poster advertising Bally shoes. Villemot's bold colors and minimal text is characteristic of his advertisements for Air France, Orangina, Perrier and Bally shoes. Villemot is considered a modern master of poster design. This poster for Bally shoes, entitled "Ball" features a simple black and red background divided by the figure of a woman kicking up her legs. This poster measures apprx 67" x 47" and is dated c. 1980. Signed "Villemot" in upper right corner.
