Beautiful bronze Art Nouveau medal by Rene Lalique, France, C. 1895. Square shaped brass medal has been embossed with a figure of a woman cradling a small child. Underneath this image reads "Orpheliant des Armees". This medal was most likely presented after a small donation had been made to a foundation to support children whose parents had been killed in the line of duty. Red, white and blue ribbon is attached to the top of the medal. The name "Lalique" has been etched into the lower left corner. Measures apprx 1-1/4" x 1-1/2".
