Boy Playing Wood Flute. This painting depicts a young boy in a green and brown garment playing a simple wooden flute. The background is a dark navy blue, almost black color. He wears a Spanish-style white hat on his head. Tag on verso on the painting identifies the title of the painting, and says that it is from an anonymous Ecuadorian painter from the the late half of the 19th century. The material is oil on gessoed cotton in a 20th century gilded frame. Framed, it measures apprx 36 x 26cm. A second tag on verso of the frame states "This art work has been carefully conserved at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Laboratory, 1975." It also states that this is a "study of the upper body of a boy wearing a large, round, high crowned hat. He blows on a simple pipe, with a neutral background."

Colonial-style oil on canvas depicting a large scale figure of a man with long, dark hair. He carries a cross-shaped staff in his hand and is surrounded by smaller figures with their hands raised above their heads. Images of churches, birds and sheep are located in both the foreground and background of the painting. Canvas measures apprx 34" x 24-1/2". Framed, this painting measures apprx 39" x 26". Frame is made from ornately carved wood.

She cradles the baby Jesus in her lap. The child looks out with wide eyes. He wears a small white cloth. The halo behind her resembles the crown of thorns foreshadowing the one her child would someday wear. Background of painting is a soft gold color. Gold painted wood frame measures apprx 39" x 29-1/2". Painting measures apprx 31-3/4" x 22-3/4". Not signed.

Best known for his illustrations of children's books such as Black Beauty and Alice in Wonderland, Edwin John Prittie is also known for his works of oil on canvas. This painting features a Roman army marching out to the sea. It is led by man in a Roman helmet and a second man wearing a robe. Measures apprx 25" x 35-1/2" framed. Signed "Edwin John Prittie" in lower right corner.
