56. Carlo A. Ciampaglia (Italian, 1891-1975)
Depicting two figures in the foreground gathering flowers on a hillside with a lake view in the background. An oil painting, it is signed "Carlo Ciampaglia" in the lower right corner. Carlo Ciampaglia was born in Italy, but came to the United States as a young child. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York and returned to Rome circa 1919. In 1920, while a student in Rome, he won the prestigious Prix de Rome. Image is matted and framed under glass. The image size is apprx 10" x 11-3/4" and framed it is apprx 16-3/4" x 18".

Most likely a commissioned portrait for a church, the gentleman has an ermine cuff and wearing a figured medallion, possibly a momento of a brotherhood or crusade.

60. Harry Herman Roseland (American 1866-1950)
A wonderful oil on canvas board titled "The Conference" shows three elderly gentlemen, all with full white beards and moustaches wearing spectacles, two holding canes. They are seated and engrosed in conversation. Two of the men are listening attentivley to the third man, who has captured their attention. The detail of the mens' beards and their clothing is great. Signed Harry Roseland in the lower left corner. Roseland specialized in interior genres that show men discussing art and literature in smoke-filled libraries. Framed this piece measures apprx 18" x 23-3/4" and apprx 24" x 30" framed.
