"Marriage Portraits", sitters unknown. Husband and wife sit opposite one another with a window and curtain artfully between them, curtains drawn to reveal a distant landscape. Both are well dressed in black silk, she with fancy lace collar. Paintings are typical of Bundy's work, however the gentleman's hand has extensive over painting, giving an awkward appearance. Canvas sizes apprx 29" x 24", overall with frame apprx 34-1/2" x 29-1/2". The verso of stretchers have stapled envelopes, one of which has a c. 1950's black and white photo of the back of one canvas.

A portrait of a man with pipe. Oil on canvas, signed upper right and dated (19)'05. Canvas apprx 11-1/4" x 9", with frame apprx 19" x 16-1/2". Plaster frame with glass and artist plaque. A seated man viewed from a 3/4 angle, wonderful details in hands and face. This man sat for many portraits for the artist and his image can be found in many auction records. Known for his genre portrait paintings, Kotschenreiter was also an illustrator. In 1869-71 he studied architecture at the Nuernberger College of Arts and Crafts, in 1872-80 at the Residents of Munich AK under A.V.Wagner and Piloty, and was master pupil there since 1875.

"Late Afternoon". Oil on canvas, signed lower right, in original frame. Purchase receipt from Pascal M. Gatterdam Art Gallery, New York accompanies the lot. This painting has been in the same family and is completely fresh to the market. This is among the latest and is perhaps the last painting by the artist, as he died three weeks after the painting's purchase. Canvas apprx 25" x 30", overall with frame apprx 33" x 38".

"Cat & Kittens" oil on canvas. Best known for his works depicting cats and kittens, this particular painting is typical of French painter Jules LeRoy. This Victorian Era painting depicts a mother cat keeping a watchful eye on her kittens. One kitten looks expectantly up at the mother, while the other contentedly laps up a bowl of milk. Signed in lower right corner "Jules LeRoy". Framed, this piece measures apprx 34" x 30." Image measures apprx 24-1/2 x 20". Purchased from E. Ballesteros Galerie, one of the Swiss village galleries in Paris.

Portrait of a young girl dates from apprx 1860-70. This young lady is dressed in period clothing and holds a small pink rose in her hands. She stares out at the viewer with an enigmatic smile on her face. Unsigned, oil on canvas. Canvas size is apprx 30-1/2" x 25." Gilded wood frame is original to painting and overall measures apprx 40" x 34".

Hand-painted ivory portraits of historical figures such as Beethoven and Mozart, as well as two lovely ladies. Mozart and Beethoven are hand painted with rosy cheeks and glittering eyes. They are framed in with a gold toned band set into black wooden frames. Frames have small hook for hanging attached to verso. Image measures apprx 2-1/2" x 2". Framed these pieces measure apprx 5" x 4-3/4". This lot also includes two hand painted ivories of women. One woman wears a black gown with white lace collar. The second woman wears a white veil over her hair and a white ruffled collar. Framed in ivory frames accented by black flowers. Reclining Nude. Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1948 at lower right. Painted with a heavy imposto in bright tones of pinks, rose, blues and greens, this painting was created towards the end of his career, prior to being committed to Bellevue Hospital in New York in late fall of that year. Kuhn died in a White Plains, New York hospital the following summer. This painting was sold to the current owner at Plaza Fine Art Auctioneers in New York on October 26th, 1978, Lot 67A. The image size measures apprx 23-5/8" x 29-1/2" and overall size measures apprx 30" x 36".
