444. Chinese Lotus Slippers, Late 19th Century
Pair of late 19th Century Chinese lotus slippers. These slippers have hard, linen covered soles decorated with pink and green cherry blossoms. Upper half is black linen embroidered with pink and blue flowers. Lavender band at the top of the slipper is embroidered with silver colored geometric designs. For many years Chinese beauty was judged by the size of women's feet. The ideal foot was three inches long, and shaped like a lotus bud. These slippers measure apprx 3-1/2" x 6".

445. Japanese Netsukes
Two small hand carved ivory netsukes. The first figure is of an old man wearing a traditional Japanese robe. In one hand he holds a sword. His other hand is held behind his back. A signature has been stamped on verso of the figure. Hand painted with black ink. Second figure depicts another old man in a sitting position. He has a signature stamped on his back with red ink. Both figures have two holes drilled into the back or underside.

446. Two Hand-Painted Silk Fans, Early 20th Century
Two hand painted silk fans with bamboo arms. First fan is made of cream colored silk and painted with ornate blue, white pink and black flowers. Arms of fan have been painted with a gold oriental design. This fan measures apprx 9" x 14". Larger fan is made from brown silk and hand-painted with red and blue butterflies and pink and green flowers. This fan has black painted bamboo arms. Measures apprx 13" x 18-1/2".

Three paper-covered oriental nesting boxes. Each wooden box is covered with paper decorated in an oriental design of stars, flowers and butterflies. Boxes have hinged lids and security clasps. Two boxes fit inside the others. Small box measures apprx 3-1/2" x 6" x 11". Medium box measures apprx 4" x 8-1/2" x 15-1/2". Large box measures apprx 5" x 10" x 19".

449. 18th/19th Carved Figure Head, Probably Bali
Carved from one piece of wood, this head and torso had been painted with evidence of gold leaf. He wears a high band and crown of leaves and leaf necklace. Well sculpted face and ears, this could be from Bali. Verso is not carved, however it is hollowed and split. Measures apprx 30" x 12" x 5."
