| 215. English Sterling Silver Fruit Set, C.1803-04
Sterling silver fruit set hallmarked London silver, apprx 1803-04. Markings to identify date and location are stamped on the shanks of forks, but due to overpolishing are virtually rubbed out. A crowned leopard's head is visible, as well as a profile of King George III and the letter H in a cartouche. This set consists of six apprx 8-3/4" fruit knives and six apprx 7" strawberry forks, for a total of twelve pieces. The shanks of all the pieces are designed to resemble fluted columns accented with curved acanthus leaves. A family crest depicting a griffin has been etched into the tip of each handle.
