| 400. Copeland Porcelain Irish Wolfhound
Parian wolfhound statue from Copeland porcelain. Parian is a creamy-white, slightly translucent porcelain, deliberately designed to look like the fine marble from the island of Paros which was used in classical times for important statues. Copeland & Garrett were the first to sell the new Parian ware. This statue of an Irish Wolfhound shows the dog in a reclining position. He appears to have an observant look in his eyes. Verso of the piece is marked with the name "Copeland." Small hole drilled in porcelain about marking. Measures apprx 11" x 15." 250/350 Sold $287.50 back to catalog |
