| 401. Poreclain Cat Chamber Pot, Early 19th Century
This porcelain cat shaped chamber pot is likely to have come from a larger set, which would have included a second chamber pot, wash bowl, toothbrush holder and soap dish. While lidded chamber pots were not unusual, this particular pot is unique in that it is shaped like a cat. The pot itself is the body while the lid is the head of the cat. It was meant to be used as a gentlemen's urinal. The cat is decorated with blue and white glaze and has no visible identifying marks. 150/300 Sold $736.00 back to catalog |
