| 431. Four Large Royal Doulton Character Mugs
This set of four large Royal Doulton toby mugs includes the Golfer, Falstaff and two mugs from the Antagonist's Collection. These mugs feature George Armstrong Custer with Sitting Bull and Ulysses S. Grant with Robert E. Lee. Falstaff is a character from Shakespeare's "The Merry Wives of Windsor." He wears a pink cloak and black hat. He is dated 1946 on verso of base. The Golfer wears a brown wool sweater and has a golf bag for handle. He is dated 1970. The jugs from the Antagonist's collection are unique in that each one is two faces. Sitting Bull is ornamented with feathers and Native American beadwork. George Armstrong Custer has long blonde hair and a navy blue hat. This is a limited edition piece and is numbered 6040/9500. It is dated 1983. The second piece from the Antagonist's collection features the two different sides from the Civil War. Lee is on the Confederate side and Grant on the Union side. Numbered 7686/9500 this piece is dated 1982. Each jug is stamped with the Royal Doulton hallmark and measures apprx 6" x 8". 100/300 Sold $408.25 back to catalog |
